Brothers

I know that as they get older, the 29 month gap between Max and Alex’s ages will become less and less evident – but right now, it’s pretty keenly felt. Mostly by Alex, who seems hell-bent on doing every single thing his big brother does, thus constantly putting his life in some form of peril [...]

1920’s Newspaper Boy Hat

Every single time I see Alex in this hat, I can totally imagine him shouting, “Newspaper, guv?”. In a Cockney accent. How awesome would that be, huh?

Just Hangin’ Around

In the midst of all this nonsense with unreliable people and broken elbows which cut long-awaited family vacations short by more than two weeks, my sweet boys have just been themselves. Translation: energetic, healthy, funny, noisy and eating fruit like it is going out of style. Here is Max, doing what he does best – [...]

Worth Every Grosz

I LOVE Max’s play school, even though it is a bit pricey. Here is why:

They have special week-long ‘units’, where they learn about other countries… so far, they’ve done Japan, Holland, Egypt and (as evidenced above) England.

Riding on the cutest damn mini-horses that I have ever seen. And I don’t even LIKE horses (sorry, Mary!).

They [...]

Admire!

So, everyone? Please admire the bunny ears. This is Max and I walking home from the end-of-the-school-year show; he was delighted with the ears and wore them the whole way home.

And! Max loved the things so much that he wore them back to school the morning after the performance. Here he is, at 8:00 on [...]

Turns Out, I Have A Fan. Yes, One. Well, Maybe Three.

I must admit that being an English-speaking Mommy blogger out here in Poland is a bit of an isolated experience. Even if I belonged to BlogHer, I couldn’t get to any of the conferences, and I read with envy about y’all meeting online through various sites and groups, and then driving across the city, or [...]

Alex’s Turn

So, you guys remember how Max went to get a haircut a few weeks ago? Well, it is already stiflingy, suffocatingly, stickingly (oh, shut up! I get to make up words on my blog if I feel like it!) hot in Warsaw, so Piotr campaigned heavily for him to take our sweet baby Alex to [...]

I Am Picking Flowers For My Mom, Dammit

Alex is a sweet boy – and thank GOD he is, or else I would have been so scarred by Max at the same age that I would not believe that kids could be so easy and think that all those parents who said they had easy kids were just big fat lying liars who [...]

He Ain’t Heavy; He’s My Brother

So last week, Ewa picked up Max from play school, and so naturally, Alex came along too. Turns out that Max was exhausted that day – whatever they did to him on Thursday, I hope they do it more, because he dropped like a stone that night and slept like one too – and so [...]

Gah. Snake!

OK. Can I just get this out of the way?
I AM SCARED OF SNAKES.
There you go: my Top One Terror. I remember learning in psychology class that if we are exposed to enough of our deepest fear, we can actually die from it; heart attack, shock that we cannot recover from, whatever. And we were [...]
